Global Dignity Day
“The spirit of Ubuntu is very difficult to render into Western language. It speaks of the very essence of being human. You are generous, caring and compassionate. It means that my humanity is bound up in yours,” and embodies the ideas of community, connection, caring and kindness.”
Archbishop Desmond Tutu
In 2018, more than 250,000 young people, teachers and volunteers from all walks of life celebrated Global Dignity Day in over 70 countries around the world. You can learn about upcoming events by signing up to receive e-mail updates, below.
We’ll hope you’ll join us for the next Global Dignity Day on October 16th, 2019. Until then, there are lots of ways to get involved year-round through Dignity Workshops!
Dignity Workshops use flexible, interactive learning experiences to help the next generation tap into values of kindness, understanding, tolerance and compassion. They offer creative ways to help children and young people connect with their own unique, special value and sense of possibility about their futures — and reinforce how important it is that they honor these same qualities in others.

Need Help Planning Your Event?
We’ve created a variety of learning experiences, resources and a toolkit to help you organize your Global Dignity Day in classrooms, community and youth groups, under tents in refugee camps – anywhere you want to celebrate all that unites us.
Most of our Country Chairs and Partner Organizations who started out by organizing Global Dignity Day each October have expanded their efforts to organizing year-round forums and workshops as well as celebrating Global Dignity Day each fall.
“Global Dignity’s efforts to inspire young people to lead a more dignified life depends on the amazing volunteers we work with around the world. They not only inspire and engage the next generation, but for each of us that get involved, it is also a life-changing and amazingly uplifting experience. If you dream of creating a better future in your community, I encourage you to join our Global Dignity family, wherever you live.”
Soulaima Gourani, Founding Country Chair, Denmark
