Country Chair: United Arab Emirates

United Arab Emirates

Being one of the very few countries in the world with an appointed Ministry of Tolerance, the UAE has been at the leading edge in regional discussions, policy-making and social initiatives emphasizing the acceptance of "the other" with respect and compassion for our differences. It strives towards integration of 200 different nationalities living in its urban cities and towards being a global capital for tolerance. The Global Dignity chapter in the UAE falls within this mandate in perfect alignment in visions, both being so intricately related to the wellbeing of future generations of our planet. Eager to being part of the solution to a more humane and kind world that reclaims our heart and our humanity, leaving a positive legacy for our children to thrive on, we welcome you to join us in our mission.

Lina Nahhas

Country Chair For United Arab Emirates

Lina is Founder of The Sameness Project, a social innovation initiative, which facilitates online and offline projects promoting "moments of sameness"--moments where participants can look past all the things that separate us from one another, and see the humanity we share, in all our common pains, joys and dreams. She is also a certified teacher of 5Rhythms creative movement practice, which also feeds into her mission to raise levels of human consciousness and to remedy social apathy. Lina is deeply committed to dignity work, and believes that reclaiming our humanity is as important to our survival as food, water and shelter.

With a B.A. in International Relations (from UBC - Canada), she served as C.O.O. for the successful merger of her regional research consultancy, YouGov Siraj, before she bid farewell to her 16 year old successful career in the corporate world in 2009, to pursue her bigger dream of better serving the region with creative and community-oriented social projects. Lina is Dubai born and Dubai/Canada raised but, as a frequent globetrotter, has equal affinities to many other cultures and languages. She is the mother of a beautiful daughter who keeps her drive for positive change alive.
