Nita Shala

Country Chair For Albania

Dr Nita Shala is an Albanian lawyer and academic affiliated to the Faculty of Law, University of Prishtina. She is also Founder of the “Young Shapers of Albania Hub”, a non-governmental organization working to address local challenges. Nita is Founding Curator of the Global Shapers Community in Tirana and first President of the Albania&Kosovo Graduate Institute Alumni Chapter.

Nita has worked for the Albanian Government, serving as Advisor to the Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of Albania to the United Nations Office in Geneva and as Advisor to the Minister of Interior. She also provided assessments and legal expertise on various fields of law to diverse institutions, among others: the World Bank, the UNODC, the OSCE-Presence in Albania; Regional School of Public Administration; EU funded projects aimed to consolidate the justice system and law enforcement capacities in Albania (PAMECA and EURALIUS); Parliament of Kosovo, Kosovo Ombudsman and the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

She holds a PhD in international law from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva and she is an alumna of St Hildas College, University of Oxford and Harvard Kennedy School.

Nita also serves as Global Dignity's Country Chair for Kosovo.
