Asanga Abeyagoonasekera

Country Chair For Sri Lanka

Asanga Abeyagoonasekera is the Director General of the National Security Think Tank, the Institute of National Security Studies Sri Lanka(INSSSL). Prior to this he was the head of the government foreign policy think tank(LKIIRSS) under Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Advisor to Minister of External Affairs. He has 13 years of experience in the Government sector. Asanga is a visiting Professor for Geopolitics and Global Leadership at the Northern Kentucky University(USA). He is a visiting lecturer in International Political Economy for University of London and International Security at the University of Colombo. Asanga is a geopolitical analyst and a commentator, he writes a regular column “Dateline Colombo” and published many articles on geopolitics and regional security. He authored “Towards a better world order” published in 2015. He is an alumnus of IVLP(State Department), APCSS(Hawaii) and World Economic Forum(YGL).
